According to IHS Chemical Companys latest market report shows strong recovery in downstream construction and automotive markets, led by North America and Western Europe polycarbonate (PC) demand showing growth.

North American construction market accounted for 34% of the PC market share in demand. Recent U.S. residential sales are rising, while promoting growth in demand for electrical and electronic and household appliances. And occupy the North American PC market share of 26% of the car market sales gratifying, most car manufacturers in the ideal inventory level.

For the Western European market, IHS Chemical expects a gradual recovery in Western Europe will be supported by the majority of economic growth in demand for downstream areas, before the end of 2014 PC demand in this market will gradually grow. However, due to the excess supply of PC operating rate is still at a low level, only 70%. The next few months will oversupply the market, manufacturers continue efforts to improve profitability.
